Gut-Loving Greens & Tropical Smoothie

Jump to recipe

A creamy, mineral-rich blend with tropical sweetness, herbal lift from parsley and lemon, and a quiet peppery edge from papaya seeds. Anti-inflammatory and enzyme-forward.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cups unsweetened almond milk
  • 0.5 cups filtered water
  • 1 ripe banana (frozen if possible)
  • 1 cups mango chunks, frozen
  • 0.5 cups papaya flesh, scooped
  • 1 teaspoons papaya seeds
  • 0.5 medium cucumber, peeled if waxy, chopped
  • 1 cups baby spinach, packed
  • 1 cups Swiss chard leaves, stems removed, packed
  • 0.3 cups fresh flat-leaf parsley, leaves and tender stems, packed
  • 0.5 lemon, juiced
  • 1 pinch mineral salt (Himalayan, Celtic, or Redmond’s)
  • 0.8 cups ice cubes

STEPS

  1. Layer the blender: Pour 1 cups unsweetened almond milk and 0.5 cups filtered water into the blender first, then add 0.5 lemon, juiced. Drop in 1 cups baby spinach, packed, 1 cups Swiss chard leaves, stems removed, packed, and 0.3 cups fresh flat-leaf parsley, leaves and tender stems, packed next, followed by 0.5 medium cucumber, peeled if waxy, chopped, 0.5 cups papaya flesh, scooped, 1 cups mango chunks, frozen, and 1 ripe banana (frozen if possible). Sprinkle in 1 teaspoons papaya seeds and 1 pinch mineral salt (Himalayan, Celtic, or Redmond’s), and top with 0.8 cups ice cubes. Liquids on the bottom and ice on top lets the blades grab everything cleanly without cavitating around a frozen lump.
  2. Blend until completely silky: Start on low for about 10 seconds to break things down, then ramp to high and blend for 60–90 seconds, until you can’t see any green flecks. The long blend fully purees the chard’s fibrous leaves, the parsley stems, and the papaya seeds, which is what separates a smoothie that drinks creamy from one that drinks gritty.
  3. Taste and adjust: Pour a splash and taste before serving. Want more brightness? Squeeze in more lemon. Too thick? A splash of water. Not sweet enough for your morning palate? A teaspoon of honey or another half banana. Pour into two glasses and drink right away, lemon plus oxygen dulls the flavor and color within 20–30 minutes.
  • Optional anti-inflammatory boosts from your pantry:– ½-inch fresh ginger or ¼ tsp ground (warming, calms gut lining)– Pinch of turmeric + a crack of black pepper (the pepper makes curcumin ~20× more bioavailable)– 1 tbsp chia or ground flax for omega-3s and a thicker, more satiating texture
