Cozy Gut Healing Porridge
As many of you know, I recently took part in a deeply healing 3-Day Gut Detox, guided by myself and Dr. Gioffre. As I gently transition out of the cleanse, I’m embracing foods that nourish my body and support my digestion, with so much intention and gratitude. It’s essential to ease the body back in by focusing on plant-based meals and light proteins that continue the flow of healing.
This morning, I’m starting my day with a beautiful, grounding olive oil quinoa porridge—the perfect bridge from cleanse. I’m so excited to share this recipe with you all, as it embodies the mindful care we’re brought to ourselves throughout the cleanse.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1/4 cup organic rinsed quinoa
1/4 cup organic millet
1 1/2 cup organic almond milk
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon ceylon cinnamon
Pinch of mineral salt
Toppings:
1/3 cup organic almond milk
1 tbsp organic maple syrup
1 heaping teapsoon Shayna’s Kitchen Organic Olive Oil
Add ons: cinnamon, blistering blueberries, bananas, and nuts
Step-by-step:
1. Rinse the organic millet and quinoa thoroughly in a fine-mesh sieve to remove any bitterness.
2. In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed millet, quinoa, almond milk, and water. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and let it simmer.
3. Cover and cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the grains are soft and have absorbed most of the liquid. Add more milk or water if needed to reach your desired porridge consistency.
4. Spoon the warm porridge into bowls and top with your favorite nourishing additions, like berries, nuts, seeds, or a drizzle of olive oil for added richness.
