My updated skincare routine for you! In the last few years, I’ve realized that less is truly more. The beauty industry leads us to believe that we need EVERY product they push towards us and I’ve realized that simply finding a few super-clean products and a solid routine does an excellent job at taking care of my body’s biggest organ!
An Act of Self-Care
Although it may seem simple, a good skincare routine is an excellent form of self-care. In fact, I can get my skincare routine done in about a minute and a half each morning. It’s one of the first things I do each day and I feel great carrying on with an accomplishment done for ME, before I tend to any other tasks, errands or emails for other people. Plus, it takes so little time compared to other methods of self-care that it became a no-brainer to include each morning and night.
The Breakdown of my Routine
I’m a firm believer that the products you put ON your body are as important as the things you put in it. But these standards for skincare don’t mean it can’t still be a great routine. Here’s what I have found works best for my skin, but feel free to swap out with what’s best for your skin type.
Angel Lisa cleanser: super pure and gentle and I love that my skin never feels dry after washing.
Dr. Lancer exfoliator: I don’t use it often but if my skin is looking dull, I like to exfoliate with this product.
Heritage Store rosewater facial mist: I use this as my toner and give myself a spritz after cleansing or anytime I need a pick-me-up throughout the day.
Le Mieux serum: hyaluronic gel helps to keep the skin hydrated. Especially as I age, I’d like to prevent the onset of fine lines and wrinkles
Bottle & Stone Everyday Natural Hemp Face Oil: my holy grail product. I had been mixing my own face oil for years and finally got it formulated to be able to share it with you. Hydrating enough to use both day and night but light enough you don’t even notice it, it truly is my secret for glowing and acne and wrinkle-free skin.
Angel Lisa face cream: I honestly don’t use this all that often but in winter months when my skin is dry, I’ll add this in to my routine. I love the texture and how my skin feels after
Le Mieux Eye cream: recently, I’ve added an eye cream to my routine. I like that this one has ginseng extract to restore the elasticity in the thin skin around your eyes.
Uncle Harry’s Blemish roll on stick: colloidal silver has been a game-changer for me, especially in the last year. We’ve all struggled with mask-ne and putting this on before putting my mask on has really made all the difference.
How to Gua Sha
And finally, one of the most important steps in warding away fine lines, wrinkles, and facial puffiness: I Gua Sha my face daily. To see exactly how I do it, watch my tutorial here. Just as our bodies experience stress, our faces hold stress in the form of clenched jaws and furrowed brows. Facial Gua Sha is a technique I learned while traveling years ago that you can actually perform on yourself. Using a flat, handheld tool (a Gua Sha), you can actually relieve tension in the muscles of the face, boost circulation and encourage lymphatic drainage. This is my quick-start guide using the Bottle and Stone Gua Sha (which is ethically sourced, and each stone is one of a kind!) If you have any questions about the Gua Sha, leave them below… I know it’s a new tool for some.
