Beef Bone Broth

Jump to recipe

Why make bone broth instead of buy? Buying store-bought bone broth is depleted of nutrients and minerals. You won’t be getting those key nutrients you’re looking for when buying it. Instead, make it at home with this easy recipe!

Bone broth is made by simmering animal bones, typically from beef, chicken, or fish, you can add things like dandelion root, reishi mushrooms, seaweed, and many more nutrient packed and beneficial natural ingredients. As it gently simmers, the bones release an array of essential nutrients, including collagen, gelatin, amino acids, and minerals.

Ingredients
6-7 beef bones
1 zucchini, cut into big pieces.
2 onions quartered
2 carrots, chopped
1 bundle of celery, roughly chopped
2 ginger roots
5-6 garlic cloves
Handful of basil
Handful of rosemary
Handful of sage
Handful of cloves
1 tablespoon whole peppercorns
Salt

Instructions
1) First put the bones in the pot and cover with water. Simmer for 20 min and drain the water. Rinse the bones.
2) Then add all ingredients into the pot and cover again with filtered water at least 4 inches above ingredients and bring to a simmer.
3) Let it simmer on low, slightly covered for at least 12 hours. (I like to start my broth in the morning and then turn it off before bed and let it sit overnight)
4) Make sure to watch your pot and fill up the water as needed so it doesn’t get too low.
5) Once it’s cooled, strain and store in the fridge for a week or in the freezer for 4 months.

Enjoy!
