Non-Toxic Homemade Dishwashing Detergent

Non-Toxic Homemade Dishwashing Detergent

Jump to recipe

Did you know one of the most toxic, hormone disruptive things you can do is wash your dishes with normal dish and dishwasher soap?

Normal soaps have phthalates and parabens which are endocrine disrupters. They also have formaldehyde which is a very toxic respiratory irritant that can be absorbed by the skin. Dyes in soaps also often contain benzidine which are linked to many mood disorders. Commonly found in goods sold in the US, many of these chemicals are banned in other countries because of health concerns.

Not to worry, I am here to help with a one ingredient dish soap that could not be easier to make!

Ingredients
4 cups Washing Soda
Lemon and Grapefruit Essential Oil

Instructions
1. Place 1/2 cup washing soda in container of choice.
2. Add 10-15 drops of each essential oil
3. Repeat and layer until container is full.
4. Place 2 tablespoons in dishwasher detergent dispenser!

Enjoy a squeaky clean natural wash!
