In The News: Shayna’s Kitchen EU Certified Organic, Single Estate, Cold-Pressed Extra Virgin Ancient Italian Olive Oil
I am feeling incredibly grateful for the love and support of my wonderful community that has grown alongside my journey from the sunny beaches of California to the lush green heart of Italy. Most of our connections have blossomed through the stories I’ve shared on social media and this blog.
Over the past few weeks, I have had some amazing opportunities to share the incredible health and delicious culinary benefits of my EU Certified Organic Ancient Italian Olive Oil across wider media channels, bringing a taste of Italy to some of my favorite cities in the United States.
Shayna’s Kitchen, the lifestyle brand committed to crafting products with the utmost care and passion, announced today the addition of a new product to their existing lineup of health and wellness offerings, EU Certified Organic Ancient Olive Oil. Crafted from a blend of Frantoio, Moraiolo, and Leccino olives, the olive oil is grown in the nutrient-rich soil of Umbria, Italy, and is now available via pre-order, exclusively through Shayna’s Kitchen online store. — PR Newswire | Yahoo! Special Cooking Segments: Italian-Style Citrus & Rosemary Olive Oil Cake
For those of you who first discovered me through my travels, you may not know that long before I embarked on my new life chapter in Umbria, Italy, I have always had my little corner of the internet on this blog, Shayna’s Kitchen. As a professional chef, my joy is creating and sharing recipes I’ve developed from scratch: clean, gluten-free, and refined sugar-free versions of your favorite dishes and desserts. From day one, I’ve poured my heart into making this space feel as warm and inviting as my own kitchen at home.
Cooking has been my lifelong passion. I feel most in my element in the kitchen.
I still have a huge smile on my face from recent cooking segments, where I discussed the benefits of olive oil and showed how I use it as the star ingredient in a cake. My gluten- and refined-sugar-free recipe for Italian Style Olive Oil Cake included about 1 ⅓ cup of olive oil from the latest harvest of my biodynamic farm. You can taste the creamy texture of olive oil in the cake in the best possible way.
In my segment with WKRN Local On 2 in Nashville, we delved into a serious issue reported by Forbes: “80% of olive oils in America are fake” due to olive oil adulteration. This process mislabels or misrepresents the purity of olive oil, often diluting it with lower-quality oils, or mixing together extractions that differ in freshness, origins, or ripeness.
Given its popularity as a kitchen staple, it’s alarming how often consumers are misled about the purity of what they think they are buying in the USA. Italy has stringent laws that heavily penalize olive oil fraud, which is why olive oil extracted from Italian groves is so highly sought after. Shayna’s Kitchen proudly offers single estate Italian olive oil that is EU certified organic, extra virgin, and cold-pressed. The lovely presenters noted that its quality makes it the “best of the best”. They said that it didn’t have the typical olive oil smell, but rather an aroma of the “nectar of the gods”.
Beyond its delightful uses for cooking, olive oil is a nutrient dense, youthful elixir that can help manage a number of health concerns. I start every morning with a shot of olive oil on an empty stomach for a powerful dose of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits that support cardiovascular and digestive health. It boosts the radiance of my skin and hair, and it’s even banished my friend’s dandruff.
My cooking segment at PIX11 New York Living shed light on the Mediterranean Diet, ranked by US News as the #1 best diet overall. Olive oil has been a cornerstone and ancient tradition of the Mediterranean Diet, which has been linked to lowering the risks of cardiovascular disease, stroke, cancer, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, type 2 diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis.
The presenters noted how difficult it can be to find simple answers to simple questions about olive oil. They asked what cold-pressing is and why it is important to look for cold-pressed extractions when shopping for olive oil. The answer is that cold-pressing ensures the quality of the olive oil by keeping the temperature of extraction very low so as to not kill aromatic properties, antioxidants, and nutrients.
